A mood disorder is a disorder that causes a change in someone's mood. These disorders usually are either a variant of depression or bipolar disorder. Some people can confuse mood disorders with personality disorders, however, these are not the same. Some common personality disorder examples would be considered Borderline Personality Disorder, Paranoid Personality Disorder, and Narcissistic Personality Disorder. In this blog, we will be focused on tools to cope with mood disorders. Different factors lead to the cause of mood disorders, one likely is an imbalance of brain chemicals, and another is life events that can lead to a more depressed mood. If a parent struggles with a mood disorder this may make it more likely for children of the parent to struggle with a mood disorder.
